Travel Time Reliability: Network-level Characterization and System Management Implications

Presenter: Hani Mahmassani, William A. Patterson Distinguished Chair in Transportation & Director of the Transportation Center, Northwestern University

Dr. Mahmassani's research focuses on the role of information and communication in the operation of transportation systems, and the interaction between user decisions and system performance. He has developed simulation and optimization platforms for large-scale transportation networks that support operation and planning of these systems, including vehicular traffic, pedestrians and crowds, as well as intermodal freight and logistics systems. This event will take place at Florida International University, a STRIDE consortium partner.

Improved Timeliness and Accessibility to Crash Data and Tools for Safety Analysis

Presenter: Ilir Bejleri, Ph.D., Associate Professor, Department of Urban and Regional Planning, University of Florida

Abstract: To ensure access to crash data and analytical tools in a timely and consistent fashion, Florida has developed Signal Four Analytics, a statewide GIS web-based interactive analytical system available to end-users that have a stake in transportation safety.  This webinar presents this system and discusses some of the challenges and lessons learned that can benefit researchers and practitioners in the southeastern region

WTS UF Transportation Symposium on Leadership

The student chapter of the Women’s Transportation Seminar (WTS) at the University of Florida invites you to attend a Transportation Symposium with a focus on leadership. The FREE event will take place on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Matthews Suite, Reitz Union (4th floor) on campus. The goal of the symposium is to discuss the importance of leadership and to provide a social networking opportunity among established transportation professionals and college students. A panel of three very distinguished women in transportation-related careers will discuss their leadership experiences and styles and provide advice. A reception will follow the event with heavy hors d'oeuvres.
